SOUL WORK

OVERVIEW

At the core of Rick’s philosophy, which extends throughout his entire approach to life, is a deep awareness that we are here to learn, grow and evolve. At the deepest level of this evolution is who we continue to be beyond the dissolution of the body (Read Rick’s ‘Near Death Experience’, or NDE). Extending right through all of Rick’s work is the recognition that within all experience there are lessons that will, if realised, assist in our evolution to become all we have the potential to be. The intension behind his clinical work is to help a client discover, or fine tune, the purpose of their life and learn how to find the lessons embedded within their every experience; to take ownership of their journey for the purpose of fulfilling as much of who they can become as possible. Then ‘problems’ tend to change in an instant and their life and evolution, expands exponentially. (See Rick’s work with Past Life Regression, PLR, and Life Between Life, LBL, regression)

SOUL COACHING is a process of learning who we have the potential to be; who we know deep down inside we can become, and how to live being that person. It’s about developing life-strategies and beliefs that work for us, rather than work against us. It’s about finding North on our internal compass and living congruently and harmoniously with where it points. Soul Coaching develops a blueprint for life based on principles that empower us at the core of who we are, and also on using our ‘inner-compass’ to stay on course, for life. It’s also about learning to recognise the ways in which we sabotage our inner growth and ultimate success in life. Soul Coaching is about finding and learning the higher lessons from our experiences instead of being drawn into the drama of life. It teaches how to live beyond the effect of self-defeating behaviours and unconscious mind programs we’ve carried that impair our capacity to live richly abundant lives.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION (also known as ‘past life therapy’) is based upon the premise that we are eternal beings who carry forward learning and experiences from one human lifetime to another. As eternal souls, we experience physical life on Earth in a series of human bodies/personalities. On a soul level, we choose each life as a means of learning the lessons we have set out for ourselves. Of course, some people believe we only live one human lifetime. In this case, the stories elicited by this therapeutic approach serve as marvellous symbolic metaphors for the issues and situations being faced in the present time. Whether uncovering “real” past lives or not, the approach has helped many people resolve issues and get past stuck points that were resistant to other approaches. In addition, it’s a fascinating way to experience other aspects of your self and personality.

'LIFE BETWEEN LIVES' SPIRITUAL REGRESSION work is based on the groundbreaking research and instruction of Michael Newton, Ph.D., author of the best-selling books ‘Journey of Souls’ and ‘Destiny of Souls’. ‘Life Between Lives’ hypnosis is both an extension of, and evolution beyond, Past Life Regression. The techniques of Life Between Lives hypnotherapy allow us access to soul memories while in a state of consciousness we call the super conscious mind. The success of Life Between Lives hypnotherapy lies in part in the length of the session and the depth of the trance state. Sessions typically last between three and four hours, sometimes longer. The Life Between Lives process, also called Spiritual Regression, allows subjects to connect with their soul-self. They bridge their physical incarnations and connect with immortal life in the spirit world, the memory of which is held deep within the unconscious mind. Connected to our eternal self we are able to see an entire evolutionary karmic growth pattern while mentally residing in the world between lives that is our true home. We learn why bodies and lives were chosen; the fit between the experiences encountered in past and present lives; and the lessons they brought. Past and present human lives are seen as but alter-egos of an eternal identity. In this state of heightened perception and understanding, clients are able to find the answers to age-old questions such as: “Who am I?” “Why am I here?” and “Where do I come from?” One of the most profound spiritual components available to individuals who undergo Life Between Lives spiritual regression is direct contact with the personal teachers we call spirit guides. These wise beings have been assigned to us since our creation and directly connect with clients during their sessions. Bringing this experience to a conscious physical state promotes a transcendental awareness of having a personal relationship with a higher power. The findings reported by Dr. Michael Newton, developer of LBL work and author of Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, represent some 7,000 LBL cases spanning a period of over 30 years. Dr. Newton’s clients, and those seen by LBL therapists trained and certified in his methods, report remarkable consistency regardless of the client’s religion, philosophical orientation, or nationality. Through years of clinical observation it has been noted that a single LBL session promotes enduring positive changes to a client’s life and understanding of purpose. Clients consistently report that finding their place both in the physical, and in the eternal spirit, world is the most significant work they have done.

RICK’S 'NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE' (NDE) At the end of the year 2000, in my forty-eighth year, I underwent urgent surgery that resulted in having five bypasses grafted to my heart, from what I was later informed to be a glitch in my genetic makeup. In Intensive Care, soon after the operation, my wife Margot stood by staring at my ‘lifeless’, grey, clammy and cold form. The only way she knew I was still alive was by a machine sounding a steady beep as the green line of the monitor echoed with every beat of my heart. She recalled, later, having a strong impression that this body was not who I really am, yet little did she know that this notion was about to be put to the test. One moment I appeared to be normal for my situation and the next moment the beeping stopped dead as I flat-lined. With alarms resounding and medicos rushing from all directions she was hustled out to a waiting room. Over the next hour and a half, while doctors and nurses attempted to resuscitate and keep me alive, I flat-lined a total of three times. Later, as I came out of sedation, I recalled none of the excitement, nor any NDE so commonly talked about. Much later, as I began to realise what had happened, I must admit I felt a little disappointed, even cheated. Five years later I was in Santa Fe, New Mexico, participating in some intensive advanced hypnotherapy training with Michael Newton (Journey of Souls) when one of the instructors, Paul Arnaud, at dinner, began to recall the story of when both he and his wife were struck by lightening, died, and ultimately resuscitated. His wife had a very clear NDE, but he felt hard done-by because he remembered nothing, just like me. Six months later a colleague regressed him under hypnosis and he vividly recalled and relived his own NDE while he had been ‘dead’. It was all recorded in his unconscious mind even though he could remember nothing. Recalling my earlier, similar experience, he agreed to regress me the following day. As he did so I found myself above my body in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, years before as the doctors were frantically trying to ‘restart’ my heart. Instantly appeared that I may have had a NDE after all! However, I my Ego/Mind protested loudly as I lay on the couch in Santa Fe ‘recalling’ this experience. “But you could be making this up,” I heard it cry in the background. In trance, one’s conscious mind is still awake and present, observing the whole experience, something many people do not realise. As I began to reflect that it had a point, I found myself instantly ‘floating’ down hospital corridors and arriving in a room seeing my wife Margot sitting on the left end of a long, dark sofa. I also knew every thought running through her mind as if they were being transferred to me telepathically and I recall feeling as though this was a very normal, natural process, one I was quite used to. A few days after the regression, and the training program I was in the States for had been completed, I arrived back at Sydney airport where Margot picked me up. As I closed the car door I couldn’t wait to test my ‘recall’. I asked, ‘Remember when I flat-lined in hospital and you were hustled out of the Intensive Care Unit and taken down the hall?’ I then continued to tell her the twists and turns of how she arrived at the room she waited in, described what the room looked like, where and on what she was sitting, and the four significant thoughts that were on her mind at that time. None of this had been discussed before so I held my breath as she responded, knowing her reply would be the acid test of the authenticity of existence after death for me; that what I ‘saw’ and experienced while my body lay elsewhere, lifeless on a table, would either confirm or discredit ‘life after death’ for me. Margot painstakingly recalled the experiences of that day which, item by item, corroborated everything precisely as I had ‘seen’ it happen: the way she got to the room, the layout, size and dÈcor of the room, exactly where she was sitting on the sofa and its colour, together with full description of what was going through her mind at that time. I also had other experiences in that session that meant I could no longer deny the existence of a part of us that exists beyond death, that there are others vitally interested in our journey, and that our time here does have significant meaning and purpose.
